Luke Penella studied at Berklee College of Music. Starting his studies with George Garzone while still in High School. Luke Penella is currently a Hellcat recording artist with ska heavy weights Westbound Train and has performed with such artists as Slick Rick, Kevin Bachalor of the Skatalites, Smiff and Weston, Esperanza Spaulding, Audible Mainframe, Vinnie Amaco of Moe, Sam Kinninger and Bryan Baker of Steps Ahead.

Luke did some recording sessions with Lifted drummer Joe Lambert and bassist Ben Geis while living in Boston in 2003. While Lifted was searching for a saxophone player after Zach Lucas of Booty Juice left the band, Luke played a short tour with the band in 2010. After falling in love with the deep groove of the band,and geling with Joel's sound and phrasing, Luke joined the band and the rest is history!
